Producer La Terre Penchée
FRANCE, JURA
The La Terre Penchée estate was born from the experience and passion of Étienne Gasnier and Margaux Dermine, two winemakers who decided to establish themselves in the heart of Southern Revermont, a Jura region rich in tradition and biodiversity. After gaining expertise in various French wine-growing regions, Étienne and Margaux chose to dedicate themselves to producing vibrant and authentic wines, cultivating one hectare of Chardonnay on the En Billat estate using organic methods to ensure healthy, superior-quality grapes. This first vineyard marked the beginning of a journey that expanded with the purchase of other small plots in the villages of Vincelles, Cesancey, and Beaufort, thus consolidating their winemaking project. The 2023 and 2024 vintages saw a generous and an extremely challenging harvest, respectively, reflecting the climatic challenges facing producers today. In 2025, the expansion of the vineyard with new varieties such as Savagnin, Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Trousseau demonstrates the desire to explore and enhance the biodiversity of the territory, thus offering an increasingly varied and interesting range of wines.Their approach in the winery is distinguished by simplicity and respect for the raw materials: manual harvesting, direct pneumatic pressing of the white grapes, static racking, and spontaneous fermentations in tanks highlight a minimalist philosophy aimed at preserving the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The use of small barrels for 70% of the wine allows for seamless aging, while the homeopathic use of sulfites demonstrates a commitment to the naturalness and health of the wine. In short, La Terre Penchée stands out for its gentle winemaking approach, respectful of the environment and the raw materials, resulting in authentic, lively wines that are true to their origins, capable of conveying all the strength and beauty of the Southern Revermont terroir.
