Producer A Pie de Tierra
SPAIN
David Villamiel and Aitor Paul met in 2015 during their studies at the Madrid School of Viticulture and Oenology. During that time, they gained experience through internships at two leading Spanish wineries: Valquejigoso and Comando G. This collaboration led to the creation of A Pie de Tierra, a winemaking project distinguished by its strong commitment to respecting the environment and promoting the local terroir. The two producers focus primarily on growing Garnacha grapes, sourced from the granite hills of the Sierra de Gredos, an area known for its unique characteristics and distinctive terroir. David's family owns approximately 20 hectares of vineyards in the municipality of Méntrida, located in the Alberche River valley. Some of these vineyards are old, planted in the middle of the last century, a testament to a long winemaking tradition. Added to these are another 4-5 hectares of vineyards cultivated along a riverbed in the nearby municipality of Aldea del Fresno, in the Community of Madrid, thus expanding the viticultural heritage dedicated to the production of high-quality grapes for the A Pie de Tierra project.
