SAGRANTINO MON AMOUR

The Sagrantino is a native Umbro vine, although it is believed to have been imported from Greece, in the Middle Ages, by Byzantine monks. The name derives from the fact that originally the grapes were used by the Franciscan friars to produce a passito wine intended for religious services. In the 60s of the twentieth century, thanks to some skilled winemakers, Sagrantino returns to be the prince of the Area of Montefalco. It takes the DOC in 1979, and in 1992 the DOCG. Montefalco Sagrantino is produced in both dried and dried versions. The dry version is a wine of great power and very evident tannic texture, which when young can be excessive, for this reason it needs a few years to be able to savor its qualities at best. On the nose the bouquet is rich and complex with evident notes of blackberries and cassis. A monumental wine to be tried.
