Marche

The Marche are found in Central Italy and are famous for the cultivation of Verdicchio, both of Matelica and of Jesi, Montepulciano and Sangiovese. The vine cultivation takes place on the hills that slope down to the Adriatic Sea. Among the most famous black berry wines of the region we find; The Rosso Conero that is produced by a blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese, the Vernaccia of Serrapetrona obtained from the same names in the sparkling and passionate versions, and the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, produced northwest of Ancona with the homonymous vine. To the north of the region, on the border with Romagna, we find the name Bianchello del Metauro, a white wine produced with the Bianchello grapes, mentioned by Mario Soldati in his book Wine and Wine. It is worth mentioning the Pecorino white grape variety that is part of the denomination Offida and the subdivision Focara where the wines are produced with Pinot Noir.
