Puglia

Puglia is a region in the south of Italy that knows nothing of the mountains, in fact, hills and plains, follow in large areas of vine cultivation, starting from Daunia, north, to pass to Murgie, Tavoliere delle Puglie and finally To Salento. The cultivation of the vine is present in Puglia already before the Greek and Phoenician colonists who brought in these wonderful lands new vines and cultivation improvements. The hectoliters produced each year are about six million, with 60% being in a naming or geographical indication, and the hectares of vines are about 85,000. The vines that are grown are numerous, although in an uncontested way we find for 80% red grape vines. We can divide Puglia into three areas: in the northern part of Foggia and Capitanta, the main Doc are San Severo, Cacc'e Mmitte of Lucera and the Red of Cerignola, and we find the White and Black Bombino, Trebbiano, Sangiovese and Montepucliano. In the center that corresponds to the province of Bari and the Murgie, we find the 3 DOCG Castel of Monte Bombino Nero, Castel del Monte Nero of Troy Reserve, Castel del Monte Rosso Riserva, with its relocation DOC Castel del Monte, whose wines are Products using the Black Troy, the Aglianico and the Black Bombino, and Locorotodno DOCs and Martina Franca, which are the home of Verdeca and Bianco d'Alessano white berries. Further south, in Salento, the Primitive, Negroamaro and Black Malvasia of Lecce dominate, and include the names Alezio, Salice Salentino, Lizzano, Nardò and Leverano. To remember two native varieties such as Ottavianello and Susumaniello, and the splendid Moscato di Trani.
