It's a wild ride for those arriving by car, you enter Arbois up to the heart of the town, a few bends in the innermost streets and you find yourself in a small elongated square. On an ocher stone wall we read on an iron plaque: Bistrot de la Tournelle. Evelyne is the landlady, a strong and sensitive woman. It carries on the domaine created in 1991. Domaine de la Tournelle was born with a dream, to make natural wines that tell the story of the Jura. Evelyne works on 7 hectares in Arbois, part of which is on the spectacular Couron cru in the “Les Corvées” area. All replantings are of feet grafted with materials coming from continuous mass selection. Every year the underfla is hoed by hand. He has always wanted to work with little use of chemicals in the vineyard (Bio and Biodynamic certification in 2010), and in the cellar he doesn't even use sulfur dioxide. Only grapes. Each wine is released at least 24 months after the harvest, a fundamental time to allow the wine to stabilize and mature. It also produces an exceptional vin Jaune which comes out a few years later than the general average, the finest voile of all the Jura I would say! Trousseau is a nectar of pleasure in youth and a Burgundian emotion with a few years behind it... there is also no shortage of other expressions especially on whites which have, in their style, a purity beyond imaginable. Today domaine de la Tournelle is considered among the largest, most exciting and finest expressions of the Jura.
