Domaine De L'R is located in Cravant-les-Coteaux, in Touraine, in the heart of the Chinon appellation. The Domaine is led by Frédéric Sigonneau, who after spending two years in Spain working in the Domaine de Atauta (Ribera del Duero), returned to his native Cravant-les-Coteaux in 2007 and got the family farm back on its feet. Frederic immediately worked his vineyards, planted with Cabernet Franc and Chenin with organic methods. Respect for nature allows him to reveal the terroir and enhance the wines, where each vintage reveals the particularities and subtleties of the different terroirs. In the cellar the goal is to respect the grapes. Racking takes place by gravity in raw concrete tanks or in small stainless steel containers. The winemaking is carried out by indigenous yeasts and bacteria, both for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. The wines take shape in steel, concrete, fiberglass or wooden containers, depending on the case; no forced clarification, no filtration. Sulfur dioxide is avoided whenever possible. The wines thus acquire a great expressive naturalness and admirable finesse.
