Producer Champagne Laherte Frères
FRANCE, CHAMPAGNE
The Laherte Frères winery is located in Chavot-Courcourt south of the city of Reims, and was founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte. Today it is led by brothers Christian and Thierry, helped by their nephew Aurélien, the sixth generation of the family. The company's vineyards, for a total of 10 hectares, are divided into 3 locations in Champagne; Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay are grown on the southern slope of Epernay between the villages of Chavot, Épernay, Vaudancourt, Moussy, Mancy and Morangis, in the Côte del Blancs near Vertus and Voipreux with the Chardonnay 1er Cru and finally in the Vallèe de la Marne in Le Breuil and Boursault, entirely planted with Pinot Meunier. The production philosophy brothers Christian and Thierry is clearly oriented towards biodynamic agriculture and provides for the absolute use of synthetic chemicals, use of plant compounds to increase the defensive capacity of the vines, non-invasive pruning which maintains a developed foliage in height, organization of work and treatments according to the most favorable days. The production process involves separate vinifications for each Cru, in order to enhance each peculiarity, followed by a selection process, among the wines produced, to create a harmonious, elegant and original Champagne. The result is wines of great character, grit and gustatory tension.
