Producer Distina

EMILIA ROMAGNA

Distina (DISTI-lleria and cant-INA) was born from the desire and works of Claudio Campaner and his family, to rediscover and cultivate the traditions of his family, of agricultural tradition, originally from the Veneto. The idea dates back to 2015, the realization dates back to 2017: everything starts from a single hectare owned by the family, and from the experience and guidance of Vittorio Capovilla regarding spirits. The goal: to close the cycle of the fruit, from the harvest to the pomace to be distilled. Today the company extends over 6 hectares (3 of which are vineyards, half a hectare orchard, and the rest dedicated to arable land) between Val d'Arda and Val Ongina, on the hills surrounding Piacenza. All the vineyards are located at an altitude of around 250 m asl, of marine origin: poor in nitrogen, they are the perfect natural habitat for wines refermented in the bottle. The age of the vines is variable, with the oldest plants dating back to the 1980s. The production philosophy minimizes interventions in each of the production phases: in the vineyard sulfur, copper, grassing and late mowing, manual harvest and fermentation spontaneous, without filtrations or clarifications. The vines planted are those typical of the territory: Malvasia di Candia, Moscato Bianco, Barbera, Croatina and Ortrugo, with the addition of Marsanne, which arrived in the valley at the beginning of the 1800s. After vinification, the exhausted marc is distilled and finally returned to the soil as a form of organic fertilizer
