Tenuta del Conte was born between 1960 and 1965 with Francesco Parilla, who plants the first vines in Cirò Marina, in the Crotone area, with the idea of confer the grapes to the cooperative of which he was a member. In this part of the Calabria, the land tends to be arid, but the position of the vineyards, halfway between the Ionian Sea and the Sila mountains, create a perfect micro-climate, rich in biodiversity. Today, after several years, the hectares of vines have become 15 and the company is led by Mariangela, daughter of Francesco. A real reversal took place with her trend regarding cultivation methods, which exclude recourse to herbicides and chemical products of any kind. The vines are two, the Gaglioppo, vigorous and productive and the Greco bianco, originally planted to soften the hard stretches of the Gaglioppo.
