Producer Keltis
SLOVENIA
The Keltis winery is located in Bizeljsko, in eastern Slovenia, and was founded in 1989 on the initiative of Marijan Kelhar who over time will be joined by his children, Luka and Miha. The vineyards of the Keltis winery comprise 5 hectares of land and extend over the south and south-west locations as well as the northern slopes of the Bizeljsko area. The westerly winds that blow from nearby Orlica take care of the ventilation and are your natural ally in the fight against disease. The composition of the soil includes marl, sandstone with quartz binder, clay, Lithuanian limestone and limestone with the application of flint which give the wines a marked minerality. The cultivated vines are plavec (used in sparkling wines because they give freshness and character to the wine), cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, merlot, pinot noir, muscat ottonel, riesling, muscat yellow, pinot grigio and traminer . The wines attest to the artisan approach in the vineyard and in the cellar, express their terroir and contain minimal amounts of sulphites. Most wines are unfiltered and that is why wines carry life and the potential for further development within them. As dictated by the philosophy, of Keltis, the work with the wines is done at the time of the full moon, when the wine is at its peak and can fully express its potential. The wine arrives on the market when it is ready and so each vintage shows its character in its moment.
