The Collio of Gorizia, just on the border with Italy, is the terroir of origin of the wines of Nando, certainly one of the most interesting realities of the Collio It is here that the Mediterranean microclimate mixes with the warm sea air that comes from the south, and the fresh from the Julian Alps north of the company, creating a unique microclimate, ideal for the cultivation of native and traditional grapes of this area. Its vineyards are located on the border, half in the Slovenian collio and half in the Italian collio. The grapes grown in these wonderful and hanging 5.5 hectors are: Rebula, Tokaj, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The approach is minimalist both in the vineyard and in the cellar: sulfur and copper for the few treatments, spontaneous fermentation, sulfur added in minimal quantities to bottling. Andrej Kristancic's wines fully enclose the rocky essence of the Collio ("ponka" in Slovenian and "marna" in Italian).
