Producer Cretapaglia

CALABRIA

The Cretapaglia winery is located in San marco Argentano, a small Calabrian town in the province of Cosenza which is located at 600 m asl on the eastern side of the Magna Mountain which anticipates the Coastal Range, the last mountain barrier before descending towards the Tyrrhenian Sea. It was founded in 2017 by Antonello Canonico after having contributed to bringing a new light and vision to Calabrian wines through the collaboration with a local company for 10 years. His idea is very simple: to fully embrace organic and natural farming practices that have always been applied with extraordinary results. Cretapaglia is absolute respect for the soil, fundamental for agriculture but also for the plant; hence the choice of avoiding any forcing, letting it express itself at its best. Today it cultivates about 3 hectares of vineyards that Antonello has managed to recover after years of neglect. Among the rows we find plants from in the vineyards we find Mantonico, Magliocco, Zibibbo, Greco Nero or Guardavalle. In the cellar the macerations are short and the fermentation takes place with only indigenous yeasts. All this gives us wines with identity, delicate and direct.
