Podere orto is located in Trevinano, a delightful village in the province of Viterbo, a stone's throw from the Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve. The company was founded by the will of Giuliano Salesi, a wine lover, and Simona de Vecchis. Husband and wife, in 2007 decided to leave their established business specialized in translations and linguistic services, and moved to Trevinano, where they fell in love with an old stone farmhouse dating back to the early eighteenth century, with attached land. At this time the renovation of the old farm began, which has now become an agritourism, and above all plant their first vineyard. The vineyards are managed in a natural way, avoiding the use of chemical preparations, and nourishing the soil exclusively with multifloreal and biodynamic preparations. The vineyards grow on soils of sandy origin, rich in clays, limestone marl and sandstone, and we find white grapes of Procanico, Greco, Grechetto, Roscetto, Romanesco, Verdello, Moscato, Malvasia di Candia, Malvasia Toscana, while red we have Sangiovese, Grechetto Rosso and Ciliegiolo. In the winery Giuliano tries to use the same philosophy that he uses in the vineyard, dictated by respect for the antura and its cycles, so he tries to intervene as little as possible during vinifications which are spontaneous in fiberglass tanks, and performs refinements in small containers of stainless steel and demijohns. Bottles without filtration and with very low use of sulfur dioxide.
