LUMBARDY
The Dirupi is a young and dynamic company located in Ponte in Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio. The headquarters is located in a historic sixteenth century building, where in the barn it is vinified, in the cellar the wine is refined in the barrels and the bottles are left in the basement, to respect the long time required by Nebbiolo, here called Chiavennasca. In this marvelous building you can admire the vaults, the portals, the stairways and above all listen to the tales of Davide and Pierpaolo, the two owners, on vintages and winemaking. The vineyards of the Dirupi are located in the municipalities of Sondrio, Montagna in Valtellina and Poggiridenti, in the most suitable areas of Valtellina Superiore of the sub-areas of Grumello and Inferno. They are vineyards that are located on predominantly sandy soils, located on the slope of the Rhaetian Alps of Valtellina and as tradition dictates in Valtellina, they are terraced with the typical dry stone walls. In the vineyard the harvest of the grapes is manual, and to respect the right period of harvest of each single plot, the vineyards are vinified separately according to the different altimetric range. In the cellar fermentation takes place in steel tanks with long maceration, from 12 to 30 days. Then the wine is aged for at least 18 months in 225 liter and 20 hectolitre French oak barrels. The wines of the Dirupi are elegant and complex, which enclose the territory from which they come.
