Producer Collestefano

MARCHE

Collestefano is a dream, a small family farm in the altar style that is immersed in the vineyards above Castelraimondo at 450 meters s.m.l., in the province of Macerata. Managed by the Marchionni family, who moved to these beautiful hills in the early sixties and began cultivating the vine to sell grapes to the local cooperative. The real turning point takes place in 1998 when Fabio Marchionni, after graduating in oenology and various experiences in Italy and abroad, decides not to sell the grapes anymore but to go on owning. Since then he has never ceased to believe in this area and in his native vine and has always tried to produce wines with a style that best valued the Matelica Verdicchio, easy to drink and without too much frills. The hectares cultivated under organic conditions are about 16, all planted with Verdicchio native clones from massive selections of old vineyards. The vineyard is part of a large self-sufficient and balanced ecological system. A system also made of leguminous vegetables and beetroot, such as the wild veal, the bean and the pea. The soil is fed exclusively with organic fertilizer, minimizing the use of copper. The cellar has been completely remodeled and allows to carry out all the major fall operations, according to a traditional vinification and respect for the source product. Today the company has become a point of reference for the production of Verdicchio di Matelica and the production is based on 100,000 bottles divided by Verdicchio of classic Matelica and the sparkling version. Collestefano is a company that identifies itself with its territory and has adopted a style that maximizes the Verdicchio of Matelica.
