Producer Colosi

SICILY

Colosi is a beautiful artisan cellar located on the island of Salina, in the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands. Here we talk about heroic viticulture, in fact, vineyards, due to the morphology of the soil, are cultivated on terraces with typical dry stone walls, with rows laid on rough terrain. Colosi is a historic wine cellar, producing wine for four generations, and is currently run by Piero Colosi with the valuable help of Father Pietro. Today it owns about 10 hectares of vineyard in the Gramignazzi resort, in the municipality of Malfa, on volcanic origin land in one of the best areas for vine cultivation. Vineyards, all cultivated under organic conditions, are the Sicilian autochthonies such as Catarratto, Inzolia, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, and since 1987 the production of the ancient Malvasia delle Lipari, both dry and sweet , Which is the most representative of the island. Piero follows carefully and carefully all the steps of winemaking, from vine cultivation to manual harvesting of grapes, refining to bottling. These latest phases take place in the new cellar, completed in 2004, built according to the rigid protocols of the island and able to have an ideal temperature for storing wine. The wines of Colosi are authentic, genuine, representative of the territory and in every sip we can find the salinity of the island.
