Producer Ferrandes

SICILY

Ferrandes winery is located in Mueggen, a small village on the island of Pantelleria famous for the Phoenician tanks. The Ferrandes family, of Spanish origin, came to this island over 600 years ago, and immediately began to cultivate capers, olive trees and above all the island's cult product, raisins, known in Arab times. Today, the company is run by Salvatore Ferrandes, who was called "the night" because it was the night that the Zibibbo plants were to be caressed. Salvatore was a self-taught guy and immediately realized that his plants in Zibibbo need naturalness without the help of herbs or chemicals. The two acres of vineyards, planted with saplings, to protect themselves from the island's windy wind, are found on sandy, volcanic soils. The grapes are picked manually in mid-August, and only the best are placed on the traditional drying racks for weeks. The vinification takes place in an ancient dammuso of the 1600 completely renovated, and the aging can last for seven years. The Passito di Ferrandes is one of the best sweet wines of the Mediterranean, and is grateful to give great emotions. A cult wine produced in only 5000 bottles.
