Producer Philip Lardot

GERMANY, MOSEL

Philip Lardot was born in 1988 in Finland to a Finnish mother and a Belgian father. He lives and grows in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, he begins to study economics, but not recognizing himself he changes for a path of Hotel management and hospitality. During his studies he deepens the wine which was an element that has always been present in the family thanks to the Belgian origin of his father. In 2013 he moved to Copenhagen where he started working for an importer of natural wines. In the same year he leaves for his first harvest, in Burgundy: in the team he meets a chef from Noma who invites him to continue the harvests with him from Clemens Bush in Moselle, so he follows him. In 2014 his life took him to France in the Loire where he worked for a year among the Chenin plants, but the Moselle had struck him and in 2015 he returned to the Moselle and embarked on a path of life as a wine producer. Philip is an enthusiastic and extremely helpful guy, he speaks 5 different languages and his home was the world. Why write this in a wine catalog entry? Well, because in 2015 he starts working for Ulli Stein, who finds in this boy a worthy successor to resume the family weingut, and at the same time brings his experience abroad, tastings and culture to Moselle, as a profane of the wine he has inside himself. Philip Lardot's wines are pure pioneering in Moselle! How far can an expression of an old Riesling vineyard go in a reading of integral winemaking with long ouillé refinements in tonneaux? What does a pinot gris grown on shale in maceration give? A pinot noir vinified with grappas entere? Could a Muller Thurgau be interesting? Philip wonders, reinvents tradition, peeks into the future, walks on the razor's edge of wine emotion. It was no coincidence that Ulli had seen us for a long time. A micro-reality of true and authentic natural wine from the Moselle, ladies and gentlemen, Philip Lardot.
