Valencia

In such a vast territory as the Spanish one, in addition to the most famous wine areas such as Andalusia, Galicia, Riberia del Duero, etc., there are smaller and less known areas, identified as niche areas, where wines are produced appreciable and interesting. One of these areas is that of Valencia, located south, along the east coast, whose wines are distinguished by their strength, although lately we tend to lighten the oenological style. I give. Valencia is a vast area of about 18 thousand hectares of vineyards, between 70 municipalities, where there are about seventy cellars. This is one of the oldest areas of Spain for viniculture, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological finds and writings that date back over 2,500 years ago. The DO Valencia is divided into 4 sub-areas: Alto Turia, located in the north-west of the province of Valencia, where excellent white wines are produced with Macabeo grapes. Then we find the sub-area of Valentino where numerous red and white wines are produced with Marseguera, Macabeo, Tintorera, Bobal, Monastrell and Tempranillo grapes, as well as the usual international forays such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. In the central part of the denomination we find Moscatel de Valencia, where we produce a typical sweet wine called "La Mistela de Moscatel" obtained from Moscatel Romano or Moscato d'Alessandria grapes. Further south we find the sub-area of Clariano, where vineyards meet at an altitude of 350 meters above sea level up to 600 meters s.l.m.
