Producer Clos Puy Arnaud
FRANCE, BORDEAUX
Clos Puy Arnaud is located in Belves de Castillon, a commune located in the Dordogne valley, near the Saint-Emilion plateaus and even if the area was excluded from the Saint Émillion municipal appellation in 1950, this territory is capable of offering great wines. The Clos is managed by Thierry Valette who comes from an important family in fact, Thierry's grandfather was the owner of Château Pavie and Château Troplong-Mondot. Thierry slowly approaches the world of wine and after having been a jazz musician, in 2000 he returns to the family Clos and begins his adventure in the world of wine. His vision of agriculture is guided by biodynamic thinking with a purely artisanal approach, free and emotional, holistic and with great sensitivity towards nature. Today Thierry cultivates 6 hectares of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards which are located on clayey limestone soils. In the cellar the fermentations are spontaneous, with the use of exclusively indigenous yeasts, and the refinements take place in cement, amphorae or wooden barrels, without that the latter alter the expressiveness of the vine and the terroir. Clos Puy Arnaud's wines have the ambition to be part of the redefinition of a Bordeaux style based on freshness, drinkability, fruit brilliance and aromatic complexity, with endings full of energy and persistence dominating alcohol. All this with the silky and finest tannins possible, in search of sparkling and optimistic wines. The annual production is about 60,000 bottles, of which 50% Grand Vin.
