Producer Kamara Winery

GREECE

Dimitrios and his daughter Stavroula lead the production activity: the first in the cellar, and the second more attentive to agronomic aspects. The approach is immediately minimalist, with the aim of creating an agricultural organism integrated into the ecosystem that welcomes it: the work in the vineyard is all manual, the treatments are done with preparations of vegetable origin (among other nettles and achillea), for nourishment they are used with compost and manure. "the real winemaker is nature, man is his assistant", repeats Dimitrios when talking about his way of making wine, which is part of a broader approach to natural things taken over by the family over the years, even before moving to the estate that is now Kamara Winery.

Kamara Winery's Retsina is a wine made from roditis and assyrtiko grapes. A wine known since ancient times, it is produced with the addition, during fermentation, of small pieces of Aleppo pine resin from the mountains of the island of Evia, which give the retsina its unique character and aroma. It is a wine that offers notes of citrus and hints of pine wood. On the palate it is fresh, elegant and the discreet touch of resin with orange and grapefruit creates an exciting combination.
