Producer Domaine de l'Octavin
FRANCE, JURA
The Domaine de L'Octavin was founded in 2005 by Alice Bouvot and Charles Dagand, and is located in Arbois, in the heart of the Jura. Alice after her enology studies at the University of Bordeaux, began a career that led her to discover the vinifications in Australia, New Zealand and Chile, until she decided to return to France where she met Charles who moved to the Jura with the idea of make natural wine. Alice and Charles cultivate 4 hectares of vineyards scattered around Arbois, which include some of the best lieu dits such as En Curon, La Mailloche, Les Nouvelles and Les Corvè. In its vineyards, all organic certified by Demeter. Alice uses no additive, and respects all nature, from wild grass to insects, from animals to plants, managing to create a real ecosystem. In the cellar fermentations are spontaneous without addition of artifices, without sulfites, without selected yeasts, without enzymes. Most of its wines ferment and refine in glass or steel tanks. Domaine de L'Octavin produces a large number of wines, some of them are Jura classics, such as Pamina Chardonnay or Dorabella Poulsard, while others are fascinating wines such as Culrond Poulsard which is vinified as white wine even if the grapes are red or the Zerlina which is a blend of Trousseau and Pinot Noir
