Producer Praesidium

ABRUZZO

The Praesidium cellar is located in Prezza, a splendid town perched on a rock spur in Abruzzo, on the western part of the Peligna Valley, in an area particularly suited to the cultivation of the grapes of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The Latin word "Praeesse", which means the presidency, from which the word "Praesidium", which gives the name to wine and to the company, was chosen to indicate the inseparable bond between the produced Montepulciano and the territory in which it originates . The company has always been the property of the Pasquale family, and today it is led by Enzo, who since childhood helped grandparents in vineyard and cellar jobs, and his wife Lucia. Their story began in 1988 when the two decided to produce a Montepulciano that was an expression of the territory of origin. Praesidium now counts on five hectares of vines exclusively in Montepulciano, conducted under biological conditions following ancient peasant techniques. In the wine cellar wine making is very artisanal, with spontaneous fermentations assisted only by indigenous yeasts and with very low sulfur dioxide uses. Praesidium wines are like their true, true, honest producers, able to tell the story of a territory.
