IL FASCINO DEL TERROIR EMILIANO

Emilia Romagna is a region between Lombardy, Liguria, Tuscany and the Adriatic Sea. Its wine history brings us back to the Romans when they spread and improved the viticulture that was already practiced by the Etruscans. The climate is continental with cold and foggy winters and hot summers, while in the coastal area it enjoys a sea-like climate. Soils are predominantly calcareous and clayey. Emilia Romagna has many affinities with the wines of Oltrepò Pavese, especially for the production of sparkling wines that are here based on Lambrusco, while leaving Emilia and heading towards Romagna we find wines based Albana and Sangiovese. The most cultivated vines are; the Lambrusco in its various subspecies: Sorbara, Grasparossa, Slamino, Montericco, Viadanese, Maestri and Marani, we find the Fortana cultivated on foot in the sandy soils of Romagna, Sangiovese, Albana white grape variety from which different versions from the dry to the passito, the Trebbiano Romagnolo, the most cultivated vine in Italy, and then the Ancellotta, the Cagnina, the Ortrugo, the Pagadebit, the Pignoletto and the Spergola with which they obtain excellent sparkling wines. Among our companies you will find:The Stoppa, located on the slopes of the Tumulus valley, in the province of Piacenza, near the Trebbia river. Today, the company is led by Elena Pantaleoni who, with the valuable help of Giulio Armani, cultivates about 30 hectares of vineyards planted in Barbera, Malvasia of Candia Aromatica, Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Semillon. The Quarticello Farm is located on the beautiful hills of Montecchio Emilia. Company led by Roberto Maestri who produces wines in the sparkling type of Lambrusco Maestri, Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Malbo Gentile and Spergola grapes. The company Dinavolo, led by Giulio Armani, already an oenologist of La Stoppa, who buys land on Mount Dinavolo, in high val Trebbia, an area of the Piacentino from the old and consolidated vocation of wine-growing, and dedicates to native vines, such as 'Ortrugo, the Candia Malvasia aromatic. Massimiliano Croci, along with his father Ermanno, on the Monterosso hill in Val d'arda produces his fantastic Ortrugo, Malvasia and Trebbiano wines for the whites, Bonarda and Barbera for the reds. Ancarani is located on the Faentine hills, near the fortress of Oriolo, run by Claudio Ancarani, along with the energetic Rita Babini, cultivating the Albana di Romagna, the Sangiovese, the Centesimino, the Trebbiano and the Famous. Mirko Mariotti's company was one of the first to valorize "sands wines", such as Fortana and Golden Grapes, which grow in the sands of the ferrari coasts and have the characteristic of being still on foot. The cellar of Vittorio Graziano is located in Castelvetro di Modena and produces three wines; the Ripa di Sopravento which is a sparkling white wine, Smilzo, a sparkling rose wine, and La Fontana dei Boschi, which is definitely its cru, all produced with indigenous varieties of Emilia, from Lambrusco to Malvasia.
