Mosella

The Moselle-Saar-Ruwer region lies in the western part of Germany, and develops along the Moselle River and its two tributaries, the Saar and the Ruwer. It is a region of great beauty, with the rugged vineyards that paint the picturesque meanders of the river omonimo in a picturesque way. Along the Moselle trail you can see the spectacular slate walls, which are ideal for cultivating the Prince's grape variety in this area, Riesling. The best terroirs are located in the part called Central Moselle, towards Piesport and Bernkastel-keus, which ensure greater exposure to the vineyards sun. The most cultivated vine is Riesling followed by Muller Thurgau, the Ebling, used to produce Sekt, German sparkling wine, Kerner, Auxerrois, Bacchus, Kerner, Optima and ortega. Riesling is a grape that needs to reach perfect maturity to express its characteristics in the best way, and certainly the rich slate soils play an important role in this, because they tend to hold back heat and release it slowly. During rains, however, slate rocks tend to slide down and are readily retrieved in their place when the rain stops. Surely producing wine from these parts is not easy, but the wines that are produced are among the lightest and most elegant of all of Germany being delicate, fresh and full of charm, and with a great propensity to aging It is easy to recognize wines which come from the Moselle because they are sold in green bottles of the classic Rhineland or Alsatian form while the bottles of other German wines are brown. In addition to the spectacular dry wines, called Trocken, you also get an excellent Eisewin, a delicious wine that is born from frozen grapes with a low alcohol content of between 5 and 6 degrees.
