Lombardy

Lombardy is an important wine region located in northern Italy. The production is estimated at about one million and two hundred thousand hectoliters, of which more than half is DOC or DOCG. From a pedoclimatic point of view it includes mountainous areas, where we find the Valtellina with its vineyards that are on terraces at 600 m.s.m.m, the prealps and flat areas surrounded by large lakes and rivers where the Franciacorta and Oltrepò Pavese are located. In Lombardy there are 5 DOCG, 22 DOC and numerous IGT. DOCG are:

Franciacorta, in the province of Brescia, where the famous Pinot Nero, Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco classic sparkling wines are produced, as well as firm red wines obtained from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes and white wines with Chardonnay.

The Valtellina Superiore, in the province of Sondrio, is a Nebbiolo red wine that in this area is called Chiavennasca.

Sfurzat, always in the province of Sondrio, a red wine obtained from Chiavennasca grapes left to dry and then vinified in December.

The Oltrepò Pavese Classic Method, sparkling wine obtained from Pinot Nero grapes. Oltrepò is the largest Italian producer of Pinot Noir.

The Moscato di Scanzio, in the province of Brescia, is the smallest known and guaranteed Italian name for a wine produced by Moscato di Scanzio. Among the Doc to remember; Lugana, a horse-drawn area between Lombardy and Veneto, where white Trebbiano Giallo, Lambrusco Mantovano and Valcaleppio wines are produced, located in the Bergamasche pre-Alps where Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines are produced.
