Nanni Copé is a beautiful reality that is located in Castel Campagnano, a small hamlet of Caserta. It is born of the enological passion of journalist Giovanni Ascione, who after traveling for years throughout Italy to tell about wine, decides to produce himself a wine that reflects the terroir and speaks the language of the vine of origin. He decides to stop in this beautiful and unspoiled area of ​​Campania where the vineyards are covered by woody patches, the sea is only thirty kilometers away and the Taburno Massif can be touched by hand. John produces a single wine, the Sands Above the Wood, a real oenological pearl produced in extremely limited quantities, averaging 7,500 bottles a year. The first vintage is 2008, but in 2009 it conquers all fans and reaches the highest marks in all wine guides. The Sands of Above the Wood is born from Black Pallagrello grapes, an autochthonous grape of the area that matures late and has a thick skin with very tannins of Aglianico, which from the body and structure wine, and finally Casavecchia, whose grapes come from From old centenarian vineyards on foot. The vineyards are on steep slopes which sometimes reach 25% slope and on terrains characterized by a high sandyness that gives very fine wines. All activities, from vineyard to cellar, are carried out scrupulously. In the vineyard we try to minimize the interventions, eliminating completely disinfectant and insecticides. The vintage is manually routed to spin, depending on the ripeness of the bunch, in a period of time that runs from late September to mid-October. The Sands Over Wood is a fine and elegant wine that is easy to find in the most prestigious restaurants in the world
