Lieselehof

Lieselehof

Lieselehof is a beautiful resort located in Caldaro, in South Tyrol, 15 km. from Bolzano. The company is managed by Werner Morandell, and his family, who have been living in these valleys for generations. The name originates from the great-grandparents of Werner, Franz and Elisabeth, known as Liesele. Franz died early and left his wife Elisabeth and his children alone. Elisabeth did not lose heart and began to work the land around her farm together with her children, who were called "the boys of Liesele", and from here the farm soon took the name of Lieselehof. Today the philosophy of Werner Morandell is to produce wines, which can tell their origin, the roots of their producers, through taste and aroma. The vineyards, all processed in organic, are in the best positions mitigated by a Mediterranean climate, due to the hot South wind "Ora", and kissed by 200 hours of sunshine. The cultivated vines are; Pinot Bianco, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and since 2002, Werner has started planting the so-called Piwi, an acronym that indicates resistant vines, that is, varieties of cryptogam resistant grapevines. In 2004 Werner created the 'Vini di montagna' program, the highest vineyard on the Mendola Pass, at an altitude of 1300 meters and, subsequently, opened the 'Viti Museum' which, currently, contains 350 vines coming from all the world. Today Lieselehof has established itself among the top producers of high quality wines.
