Fritz Salomon

Fritz and his family have owned Gut Oberstockstall since far 1869 and together with Josef Jamek they were the first to plant in Austria the grape varieties from Burgundy. The whole Wagram region (north-east of Vienna) is characterized by a particular terrain that was formed after the ice age when the winds they blew a lot of sand from Africa that has gone to form what is now called "Loess". The land of Fritz and Brigit is of about 100 hectares and in addition to the 14 hectares of vineyards, there are crops, animals and wooded parts. The entire company follows biodynamic dictates since 2005. “I am convinced that only conscious and respectful agriculture is able to fully represent the expressive power of the vineyard and thus have authentic wines. Also, I know that if the land is cultivated in a careful and sustainable way during the year, it will then not be necessary intervene during the vinification.
