The cellar of Eugenio Rosi is in Calliano, a few kilometers north of Rovereto, in the beautiful 15th century palace called Demartin. Eugenio has always cultivated its vineyards and given its grapes to the social cooperatives of the area until it decides to set itself and start to win. With its 1997 vintage, its first wine, Esegesi obtained from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. Its vineyards are in different areas; That of Chardonnay is at an altitude of 750 m., Poiema where the Marzemino is cultivated is at the bottom of the valley, together with the Esegesi where we find vineyards of cabernet sauvignon and merlot, and finally, in a garden of a villa in Rovereto we find A small vineyard of Cabernet Franc. Eugenio Rosi uses only natural treatments with little use of sulfur and copper, collects the grapes as late as possible and in the cellar lets them mature on special gratin to infuse the future wine with a velvety fullness. The refining takes place only in large barrels of Slavonian oak and cherry barrels. Eugenio rosi can be defined as a "artisan winemaker" and in a few years has become a point of reference for all Vallagarina.
