Domaine Prieuré Roch
Domaine Prieuré Roch is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Henry Roch began his wonderful adventure in 1988, at the age of 26. Henry immediately has clear ideas of the wine he wants to produce, a wine that is pure and authentic expression of the territory, and to do so he takes inspiration from his grandfather, Henry Leroy, one of the most revered vintners of Burgundy. From 3 hectares in 1988, today Henry, in addition to being co-owner of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, owns 12.5 hectares of vineyards planted mainly in Pinot Noir. The vineyards are scattered in various municipalities that fall under the appellations Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru. In the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin, Prieuré Roch has about one hectare of the mythical "Clos-de-Bèze". In Vougeot, he is one of the 24 owners of the famous Grand Cru "Clos de Vougeot" while in the surroundings of Vosne-Romanée he has the parcels "Les Suchots" (Premier Cru), "Les Hautes-Maizières", "Le Pré La Folie" and "La Colombière" (from which it obtains "Village" wines) and the "La Goillotte" vineyard, owned in a monopoly. Finally near Nuits-Saint-Georges, it owns the Premier Cru "Clos des Corvées". Henry breeds his vines in a biological way, so as to have a better quality of the grapes. During the harvest, meticulous attention is paid to the bunch so that only the healthiest and most mature grapes reach the winery. Here, Henry prefers spontaneous whole bunch fermentation, without de-stemming, clarification or filtration. The wines are aged in new French oak barrels for a minimum of 18 months. All wines of Prieuré Roch wines show the characteristics of the terroir and combine elegance and refinement.
