The Crealto winery is located in Cardona, a few meters away in the province of Alessandria. Founded in the sixties by Carlo Quarello, son of Cossombrato's physician, a fascinating and cunning person. Charles as a young man turns the world, making life experiences. Back home, he finished his studies and became a teacher, a profession that took him long in the various Monferrato countries where he came into contact with peasant reality. When, however, an uncle proposes to run his winery with him, Carlo abandons his teacher career and becomes vigneron. He decides to point everything about the less noble and harder to cultivate in the Monferrato, the Grignolino, where in those years they began to spread distorted versions, easy to drink wines, far from the true nature of this wine with a peculiar personality. Today the winery is led by Luigi, an oenologist, and his wife, Eleonora, who together with Andrea and Elisa, good chef, leave Genoa to pursue their dream and passionately manage the farm. The vine area extends for 5 hectares and rests on a clay-chalky soil. Two hectares are planted in Grignolino, whose vineyards reach 60 years, 2 in Barbera and one in Nebbiolo. Vineyard management follows the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture in full respect of nature and biodiversity. Crealto produces 5 labels, two Barbera, two Monferrato, in white and red, and the wine that made the company known, that Grignolino Crè Marcaleone who knew how to challenge the skeptics.
