Azienda Agricola il Gelsomoro
"Il Gelso Moro" is a splendid family-run business located in Morro d'Alba, an important wine-growing area in the Marche, dedicated to the production of red wines produced with the main indigenous varieties including, Lacrima, Montepulciano and Sangiovese. The company was founded in 2004, when Silvia Giorgietti together with her husband decided to put their university studies into practice, buying an old farmhouse surrounded by vineyards, orchards of ancient varieties, olive trees, and a plot of about 3 ha destined for arable land in which cereals, legumes and oil seeds are grown. Renovation work began immediately on the farmhouse, dominated by an immense black mulberry tree, and the 2-hectare plant with Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Merlot and Lacrima. Immediately the vineyards are managed with the organic farming method, believing that it is possible to combine quality of production with respect for the environment and health. The vines are found on clay-limestone soils, with south-east exposure, which are not fertilized, but fed with the practice of green manure and with the distribution of biodynamic preparations. All the processes in the vineyard are conducted directly and by hand without the use of mechanical means. The harvest takes place in October with a careful selection in the vineyard and then vinified at a third-party winery. The vinification is oriented towards the respect of the fruit and its natural transformation, therefore spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks or steel vats, exclusion of chemical additives. and maturation always in cement, stainless steel end in small part in wood. From all this comes a unique splendid wine, the "Gelsomoro".
